Hon. Leke Abejide Salutes Nigeria’s 26 Years Of Unbroken Democratic Experience, Calls For Unity and Continued Support For Tinubu.

The member representing Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopamuro Federal Constituency, and Chairman House Committee on Customs &Excise Duties, Hon. Leke Abejide, has joined Nigerians to celebrate 26 years of uninterrupted democracy. He emphasized the importance of the commemoration of Democracy Day as an opportunity to reflect on the contributions and sacrifices of our national heroes who fought for democratic dispensation in the country.

Although Nigeria’s democracy has had its ups and downs. It is still a work in progress, it has recorded some milestones, one of which is the seamless transition from one civilian government to another since 1999.

Abejide while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the good people of Yagba, and Nigerians in his message stated that Nigeria’s 26 years of unbroken democratic governance is a testament to the resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the citizens to the principles of democracy and freedom.

He called for continued support for the administration of President Tinubu, stating that the administration since assuming office in 2023 has pursued through the Renewed Hope Agenda reforms, economic revival, and inclusive development with bold policies to enhance transparency and free up funds for national development.

He called on Nigerians to embrace unity, love, and respect for one another. He encouraged citizens to deepen their engagement in participatory democracy and guard against antidemocratic tendencies at all levels of society.

Hon. Leke Abejide affirmed his unwavering support for democratic principles and governance reforms, saying the 10th National Assembly remains committed to strengthening democracy.

“The 10th National Assembly under Rt.Hon.Tajudeen Abbas is dedicated to strengthening democracy by supporting policies that promote social and economic inclusion, human rights, and environmental sustainability. We will continue to engage in dialogues to share best practices to enhance our democratic governance that protects the interest of every Nigerian.”

“As we celebrate this historic day, let us remember the sacrifices of those who fought valiantly for the democracy we now enjoy, they are the heroes of democracy. June 12th is not just a date; it symbolizes our collective struggle for justice, democracy, and the rule of law. It is a reminder of the power of the people’s voice and the strength of our democratic institutions.”

“We celebrate our heroes of democracy, those who fought vehemently against dictatorship rule and for the stability of democracy, active participation, and promotion of the rule of law. They remain heroes forever.

Abejide urged Nigerians to come together in unity, saying, “Our diversity is our strength, our unity is our power. It is only through mutual understanding and cooperation that we can achieve the greatness we aspire to as a nation. Let us set aside our differences and work together towards a common goal: a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic Nigeria.”

He added, “As we celebrate this momentous occasion, let us renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where democracy thrives, where every citizen enjoys their fundamental rights, and where the future is bright for generations to come.”
