PRESS RELEASE
Democracy Day 2025 Message from the Chairman, Kogi West Rebirth Forum Comrade Aina Oladipo
June 12, 2025
As Nigeria marks Democracy Day 2025, the Kogi West Rebirth Forum joins millions of citizens across the nation in reflecting on our democratic journey, honoring the sacrifices of our heroes past, and reaffirming our collective responsibility to build a more secure, just, and prosperous society.
In his commemorative message, Comrade Aina Oladipo, Chairman of the Kogi West Rebirth Forum, underscored the urgent need for unity and proactive engagement in confronting the escalating security challenges affecting the region.
> “In recent years, Kogi West has suffered deeply. We have lost numerous lives—many of them young, vibrant, and full of promise—due to the worsening insecurity caused by herdsmen, kidnappers, and armed bandits. These losses, compounded by institutional neglect, have left an indelible scar on our communities,” he stated.
Comrade Oladipo particularly mourned the recent killing of Major Joe Ajayi, a respected community leader, and decried the loss as a loss to the entire Kogi State.
Regarding the Recent Abduction of Oba James Dada Ogunyanda. We acknowledge and deeply appreciate the swift intervention of the security agencies and the Kogi State Government in securing the release of Oba James Dada Ogunyanda, the first-class monarch of Okoloke in Yagba West Local Government Area.
“Our people live in constant fear. Farming, which is our lifeblood, has become a dangerous venture. The night no longer offers rest, and the land that once nurtured us now harbors fear,” he lamented.
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies and the state government, the Forum’s Chairman called for decisive, intensified action to restore peace across the region.
> “Now more than ever, we must come together as one united Kogi West. Our strength lies in our unity. Security is not the sole responsibility of the government—it is a shared duty. Only through vigilance, collaboration, and a collective commitment to peace can we reclaim the safety of our communities,” he added.
We remain resolute in our commitment to restoring and maintaining peace across all communities in Kogi West.
Comrade Oladipo also commended the Kogi State and Federal Governments for appointing dedicated sons and daughters of Kogi West into key positions of service. He highlighted notable appointments such as:
Prof. Abdulsalam Nasir Naeem, MD/CEO, Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd
Dr. Femi Paul Fashagba,Provost, College of Education, Ankpa
Hon. Funsho Ekundayo Olumoko (FNIMN), Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Federal University of Education, Pankshin
“These are not merely political appointments; they are opportunities for transformation. We urge all appointees to remain committed to service and never forget the people they represent.”
