IDAH STANDS STILL AS IDRIS HK DECLARES KOGI EAST SENATORIAL BID, PDP REAFFIRMS DOMINANCE
Businessman and CEO of Crush Café, Abuja, Idris HK, has formally declared his intention to contest the Kogi East Senatorial District seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The declaration drew a mammoth crowd of supporters to Idah, with Senator representing Kogi Central, Sen. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, and all nine PDP Local Government Chairmen in Kogi State in attendance.
Speaking at the event, Kogi State PDP Chairman, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, described the turnout as clear evidence that the PDP is fully mobilized and serious ahead of the 2027 elections.
He praised Idris HK, popularly called HK, as a viable and credible candidate with a proven track record, noting that while all PDP aspirants are men of integrity, the party would ensure a level playing field for the most qualified candidate to emerge.
Hon. Gambo urged other aspirants to emulate HK by engaging with the grassroots and mobilizing members across Kogi East to strengthen the party’s base. He expressed confidence that the PDP would sweep all elective positions in the state come 2027.
He also advised aspirants to maintain regular communication with the State Working Committee for guidance on party expectations and to ensure the PDP is projected effectively at all levels.
The chairman commended the impressive crowd that turned out for HK, describing it as a reflection of the party’s renewed strength and repositioning in the state. He said the PDP remains the party to beat in Kogi East and across Kogi State, insisting that the district has always been a stronghold of the PDP.
“The PDP is the party for Kogi East. The people should have abiding faith in the party, and we promise that the dividends of democracy will reach their doorsteps,” he said.
With his business background and growing grassroots appeal, Idris HK is increasingly seen as a candidate to watch in the race for Kogi East, as the PDP positions itself to reclaim its political supremacy in the region.
