PRESS STATEMENT
IGBIMO ATULUSE CONDEMN THE RISING WAVES OF KIDNAPPING AND DEMANDS URGENT ACTION
It is with deep grief, outrage, and grave concern that the leadership of IGBIMO ATULUSE addresses the recent, despicable incidents of kidnapping in Aiyegunle Igun in Kabba-Bunu LGA of Kogi State.
We condemn this barbaric and cowardly act in the strongest possible terms.
The unlawful abduction and confinement of our innocent neighbors, friends, and family members are heinous violations of human rights and security.
A threat to the safety of one is a direct assault on the peace, freedom, and dignity of our entire community.
We refuse to accept this as our new reality. In light of this unacceptable threat, we are making the following declarations and demands:
✅UNWAVERING SOLIDARITY:
We stand in total solidarity with the families of the victims during this traumatic time. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in captivity, and we will do everything within our power to support their safe and speedy return.
✅CALL FOR DECISIVE SECURITY INTERVENTION :
We call on the Nigerian Police Force, the military, and all relevant security agencies to immediately scale up rescue operations. We urge them to deploy adequate personnel and proactive intelligence to flush out the perpetrators and secure the release of our people unharmed.
✅STRENGTHENED LOCAL VIGILANCE: We appeal to all residents to remain calm, highly vigilant, and united. We urge members of the community to immediately report any suspicious movements, activities, or persons to local law enforcement or the community leadership.
✅ACCOUNTABILITY FOR LEADERSHIP: Kidnapping thrives where there is impunity. We call on local and state authorities to live up to their primary constitutional Responsibility, which is the protection of lives and property. We demand enhanced security architecture, including strategic patrols and intelligence-sharing networks, to prevent further occurrences.
Kidnapping will not break our communal spirit. We will continue to advocate tirelessly for a safer environment and hold those responsible accountable. Together, we shall overcome these dark forces.
