Interior Minister Announces President Tinubu’s Approval of Lifetime Salaries for Retiring Senior Officers

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has revealed a new policy that offers lifelong salary benefits to senior officers retiring at the levels of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, Commandant-General, or higher.

On Thursday, the minister made this announcement during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat, where he outlined the ministry’s accomplishments and reiterated its dedication to enhancing the performance and capabilities of all its agencies.

In a statement released on Thursday by DCF PO Abraham, the NPRO/Head of Corporate Services at the Federal Fire Service, highlights the contents following the retreat.

The statement reads in part: “The minister expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering support, affirming that all agencies under the Ministry of Interior are reaping the benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
We have successfully cleared the long-standing backlog of promotions.”

He stressed that moving forward, officer advancement will be guided by a new framework focused on their abilities and performance.

As part of the ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutions, Tunji-Ojo announced that updated training manuals have been created, and work has begun on building a state-of-the-art Fire Academy
