KOGI L- PRES FACILITATES STEP-DOWN TRAINING FOR LIVESTOCK FARMERS IN KABBA/BUNU LGA ON LIVESTOCK BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.

The phases 1 & 2 of the Kogi L-PRES facilitated step- down training for livestock farmers in Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area took place at the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture in kabba on Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th August, 2025 for poultry and goat and sheep farmers respectively.

The training programmes attracted large turnout of over seventy (70) farmers of both sexes from across the local council. The different sessions were coordinated by Mr Segede Funsho Benjamin who is the Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area Livestock Extension Agent (LEA).

The step down training which participants adjudged as not only timely but beneficial touched on such critical topics as the Livestock Business Development and Investment Plan, Marketing Strategies, Livestock by-product and Value Addition, Financial Management Practices and Access to Funding. Other areas that were discussed include Farm Record Keeping and its Relevance, Risk Assessment & Mitigation and the Formation of Farmers Organizations.

The Chairman of the Poultry Farmers Cluster in the local government area, Mr Alfred Bayode Adewumi said the step down training was a huge success and the gathering has afforded the platform for the canvassing and galvanization of farmers towards the formation of a farmers cooperative society.

It will be recalled that about two months ago, Kogi State Livestock officials were mobilized by L-PRES to register all livestock farmers in the area in order to have an updated database and a proper demographic disposition that could be deployed for support and interventionist purpooses.
