INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE ON CSC RECRUITMENT EXERCISE IN NIGER STATE HOLDS PARLEY TO ADDRESS MISCONCEPTION ON THE EXERCISE

The investigative Committee on the Civil Service Commission recruitment exercise has held a media parley to clear insinuations and misconceptions from some quarters about the recruitment exercise.

Chairman of the Committee and Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba who addressed Journalists and other stakeholders said the decision to call for clarifications became necessary for the public to know the processes involved in the recruitment exercise.

He said the Investigative Committee was set up by the Farmer Governor not to take over proceedings of the recruitment exercise but rather to correct any anomalies and revealed that a total of 53,128 applicants applied for 2,500 slots approved by the State Government.

The Deputy Governor further disclosed that Niger South had 31,498 applicants, Niger East 13,837 while Niger North had 7783 adding that 46,089 applicants initially passed the CBT exams with 50% scores and above which called for the exercise to be upscaled to get the required number needed for employment.

He also disclosed that 15,081 had applied for the health sector with only 1000 slots approved by the State Government which called for a further review of parameters set at considering those with 90% score and above in the CBT exams with an equity representation from all the three Geo political Zones of the State.

Subsequently, the Deputy Governor said, the total number of successful applicants were 883 each from Niger South and Niger East and 793 from Niger North which made up 2506 successful applicants including the six medical Doctors that were given approval to be employed by the Farmer Governor.

Yakubu Garba appealed to those who were not shortlisted not to lose hope as Government cannot employ everyone while reassuring them, that whenever the need arises to close up any gap, they would be considered for employment as their records are still on the database of the Civil Service Commission.

He used the medium to reiterate the commitment of Farmer Governor Umaru Bago towards ensuring the well being of the citizenry as his administration will continue to explore ways of creating employment opportunities to the teeming youth.
