(Chief) Mrs. Zainab Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni, has been appointed as the Lagos, South West Regional Co-ordinator of the National T-Plan Drug Abuse Rehabilitation, an anti-drug abuse group working in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat drug addiction and trafficking across Nigeria.

Her appointment comes as part of a nationwide restructuring effort that also saw the selection of regional coordinators across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Others appointed include:

Muhammad Dauda Kaduna State, North West Region, and
Arc. QS. Frank Danladi Benue State, North Central Region.
The National Co-ordinator of the group is Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, who will oversee the activities of all regional and state coordinators.

Furthermore, State Coordinators have been appointed across the 36 states of the federation to work under the regional leadership in their respective zones. Their mandate is to intensify the fight against drug abuse at the grassroots level and provide necessary rehabilitation support to affected individuals.

Founder of National T-Plan Drug Abuse Rehabilitation, Dr. Aminu Gumel from Jigawa State, expressed confidence in the newly appointed coordinators, commending the National Co-ordinator, Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, for ensuring the selection of competent individuals.

He emphasized that the fight against drug abuse requires compassion and dedication, as those struggling with addiction need guidance and rehabilitation rather than punishment. Dr. Gumel announced plans for a capacity-building workshop in Abuja to equip all coordinators with the necessary skills and strategies to make their advocacy campaigns more effective nationwide.

Reacting to her appointment, Hon. (Chief) Mrs. Zainab Ireede-Oginni described it as a call to further serve humanity, particularly in the rehabilitation of individuals battling substance abuse.

She noted that her work with Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation has been centered on supporting vulnerable communities through scholarships for gifted children and empowerment programs for underprivileged rural women. Her new role as South West Regional Co-ordinator will provide her with an even greater platform to help combat drug abuse and rehabilitate affected youth.

As the Co-founder of Future Promise Group of Schools, Abeokuta, and Chief Executive Officer of Terra Integrated Services Limited, she reaffirmed her commitment to expanding awareness campaigns, counseling programs, and educational scholarships to encourage young people to stay away from drug abuse and build meaningful careers.

Hon. Ireede-Oginni commended the leadership of the National T-Plan Drug Abuse Rehabilitation, especially Dr. Gumel and Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, for their vision and determination in addressing the menace of drug addiction in Nigeria.

With the combined efforts of the newly appointed coordinators, the fight against drug abuse is set to gain renewed momentum, ensuring that more individuals receive the necessary guidance, rehabilitation, and opportunities for a brighter future.
