Iyara Community Applauds Reps as Horticulture College Bill Scales Second Reading
The Iyara Development Association (IDA) has welcomed the proposed establishment of a Federal College of Horticulture in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, following the passage of the bill for second reading at the House of Representatives.
The bill, sponsored by the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Salman Idris, was debated on the floor of the National Assembly, marking a key legislative milestone.
In a statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki (PhD), the association described the development as a major step toward enhancing agricultural education, boosting innovation and driving economic growth in Kogi State and across Nigeria.
The group commended the lawmaker for what it termed quality and people-oriented representation, noting that the initiative reflects his commitment to the development of his constituency.
The association also urged members of the House of Representatives to grant the bill accelerated consideration, noting that it had earlier passed its first reading on June 6, 2024.
