Iyara Community Hosts 2025 Cultural Day with Grandeur

Iyara, The Iyara community headquarter of Ijumu local government area of Kogi state, North Central Nigerian came alive yesterday Saturday, 25th October, 2025 as they hosted their annual 2025 Cultural Day celebration.

The event, held at the community’s cultural square, showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Okun people.
Traditional dances, music performances, and displays of local arts and crafts took center stage, attracting visitors from far and wide. The Director General of the 2025 Iyara Cultural Festival, Samuel Olorundaare, welcome guests to the celebration, expressing gratitude to God for His blessings.

In his message, Olorundaare emphasized that the festival showcases Iyara’s culture, highlighting the community’s belief in the Most High God.
He thanked security agencies, including the police, NSCDC, army, DSS, and vigilantes, for ensuring participant safety.
He noted that the event aims to promote Iyara’s culture and raise funds for town development, addressing needs like security, education, and healthcare.
Olorundaare appealed to guests to donate generously to the development fund, promising a fun-filled day.
While Iyara Development Association National President, Aliyu Badaki, emphasized the event’s significance in promoting unity, cultural education, and development.
He appreciated the efforts of Iyara Development Association executives and contributors, despite financial constraints, stressing that the event aims to raise N250 million for community development, focusing on security, education, and infrastructure.
Badaki urged attendees to support the initiative, highlighting the importance of collective participation.
He also encouraged eligible voters to register, emphasizing the community’s voting strength.
The celebration showcases Iyara’s culture, language, and traditions, with Badaki expressing gratitude to founding fathers and ancestors.
He praised Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s efforts to address insecurity, urging community support.

The highlight of the event was the procession of traditional rulers, cultural troupes, and community groups, showcasing Iyara’s history and customs. Attendees enjoyed local delicacies, fashion shows, and exhibitions of traditional skills like weaving, pottery, and blacksmithing.
The celebration served as a platform for cultural exchange, entertainment, and community bonding, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
