The outreach began with remarks from the Executive Chairman of Bassa LGA, Hon. Theophilus Adama Daruwana, who expressed appreciation to the Foundation for choosing Bassa Local Government Area for the impactful initiative.

As part of the program, a blood pressure (BP) monitoring machine was donated to support healthcare delivery within the local government.

The medical outreach was conducted at PHC Unua, serving the Ujua community, where about 200 residents received free medical consultations and treatment. Health conditions treated during the outreach included malaria, high blood pressure, intestinal worm infections, cough, and ulcer-related ailments. Essential medications were dispensed free of charge by healthcare professionals at the facility.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of the community, Nyizo Kazaka Samuel commended both the Foundation and the local government chairman for deeming the community worthy of the outreach, noting that the intervention would significantly improve the health and well-being of the residents.

Also speaking, the Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Mrs Martha Gezhima, expressed gratitude to the JOY FAMILY POVERTY ALLEVIATION FOUNDATION for bringing the medical outreach to the community, describing it as a much-needed intervention.

In his response, one of the facilitators and representative of the Foundation, Mr David Dauda Shiloxson, appreciated the warm reception given to the team. He reiterated the commitment of the Foundation to extend such outreach programs across Kogi State, emphasizing that it aligns with the vision of the Foundation’s founder, Mrs Joy Onuh.

He added that the Foundation remains dedicated to improving lives through healthcare, poverty alleviation, and community-based interventions.

The outreach marks a significant step toward bridging the healthcare gap in rural communities and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting public health in Kogi State.
