Kebbi State Government Responds to Claims of Neglecting Health Sector

The Kebbi State Government has addressed circulating claims on social media that the state’s health sector has been neglected.
In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the government described the claims as “mischievous and calculated attempts to ruin the present administration.”
The government highlighted its efforts to improve the health sector, including the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital.
He said some sections of the hospital have been relocated to the Teaching Hospital in Kalgo to facilitate quality work by contractors.
He further noted that the government has also renovated and upgraded some General Hospitals in the state, equipping them with modern facilities to reduce dependence on Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital.
Additionally, all casual health workers have been absorbed as permanent and pensionable staff, and medical doctors’ salaries have been increased to match those at Federal Medical Centres.
He said some of the ongoing projects in the health sector include
– Renovation of General Hospital Argungu, Completed with modern hospital equipment procured.
– Renovation of damaged structure at Jega General Hospital: Ongoing.
– Renovation and modification of General Hospital Bunza: Ongoing, including staff quarters renovation.
– Radiology Software installation and Communication Service at Teaching Hospital Kalgo: Ongoing.
– Procurement of medical equipment at Zuru General Hospital: Ongoing.
– Provision of 250KVA solar comprehensive lighting for Teaching Hospital Kalgo: Ongoing.
The government appealed to the people of Kebbi State to disregard misleading information and support the governor’s efforts to deliver quality services.
The government emphasized its commitment to good governance and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach all parts of the state.
