Group Petitions APC National Chairman Over $1.2M Land Agreement Dispute involving its Candidate for Anambra Gubernatorial election, Nicholas Ukachukwu
A civil rights advocacy group has petitioned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, seeking his intervention in what it described as an unresolved land transaction involving the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu.
In the petition addressed to the APC leadership and signed by its Executive Director, Mr. Mike Olorunfemi, the group stated that it was acting on behalf of several subscribers of Engr. (Dr) Achema Akpa, Managing Director of Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Ltd, and other subscribers who alleged that they had not been allocated land or refunded payments made since 2022.
According to the petition, the Zoe New Dawn had entered into an agreement with a company linked to Mr. Ukachukwu concerning a parcel of land in Lugbe, Abuja. The group claimed that despite initial payments amounting to about $1.2 million, the subscribers were yet to receive allocation or a refund.
The advocacy group noted that efforts to resolve the matter through various channels had not yielded results, prompting them to escalate the complaint to the APC National Chairman. They further stressed that their petition was not politically motivated but aimed at protecting the rights of the affected individuals.
The petitioners also urged the APC leadership to prevail on Mr. Ukachukwu to either allocate the land or refund the subscribers’ money, stating that resolving the matter would restore confidence and ease tensions among the affected parties.
“We are of firm belief and unshakable confidence that your good office will get us justice and restore normalcy in what appears to be threatening the peace,” the petition read in part.
As at press time, there had been no official response from Mr. Ukachukwu regarding the petition.
