Kogi: Amb Gabriel Abinu donates borehole to Adankolo community in Lokoja
In his quest to compliment Government efforts in providing portable drinking water at the grassroots, Amb. Gabriel Abinu through his foundation has donated borehole to Adankolo community in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The ceremony which was well attended by creme de la creme within and out the State on Saturday has continued to gain wide commendations as it will provide relief for parents and their wards to get portable drinking water for their consumption.
Speaking at the event, Amb. Gabriel promised not to relent in giving back to the society stressing that, water remains an essential needs for human existence.
Represented by Mr Samuel Shiaka, he said “this is not the first boreholes I will be facilitating in Lokoja and it environs. Am always proud to be associated with community development. Seeing my people at the grassroots enjoying basic amenities such as pipe born water, good road gives me joy and relief.
“With the little resources available, I will continue to sponsor projects that will have direct impact in the society. Am using this medium to appeal to the people of Adankolo community to guide this project judiciously because it is for them and should be protected.
“They should immediately take ownership of this borehole so that it will stand the test of time and serve the purpose it was constructed”.
Amb. Abinu, however, used the occasion to thank the Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his purposeful leadership in the State. According to him, “The Chief Servant of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been doing well for our people and deserves all the commendations. Since assuming office in 2024, Kogi State has become one of the fastest developing State in Nigeria which have continued to attract investors from far and near.
“His selfless service to humanity can not be quantified. We must appreciate him for our unity despite our diversity in religion, ethnicity or political affiliations. Even the blind could see that he deserves to be appreciated for his good work in our State”.
The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area Abdullahi Adamu thanked Amb. Abinu for his humanitarian service in giving back to the society.
“Development and provision of basic amenities should not be left alone in the hands of the Government, that is the more reason we should collectively support those who are committed in providing the needs of our People. With this borehole commissioned here today, it will go a long way in providing portable drinking water for the people at the grassroot” Adamu added.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Commissioner for Water resources Engr. Farouk Yahaya gave an insight on the Government efforts at providing water for all the nooks and crannies of Lokoja and other parts of the State.
