Kogi Deputy Gov Leads Ejule Forum on Appreciation Visit to Governor Ododo
The National Executive Committee of Ejule Forum Worldwide, led by its President, Dr. Achimugu Faruk, paid an appreciation visit to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his residence in Okene, Okene Local Government Area.
The group was led by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, who is an indigene of Ejule community.
In his remarks, Dr. Achimugu Faruk said the visit was to formally thank the Governor for taking their son, Comrade Joel Salifu, as Deputy Governor, and Hon. David Idris Zacharias as the Member representing Idah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
He commended the Governor for providing two 500KVA transformers to communities in Ejule, the ongoing construction of a cottage hospital nearing completion, and security interventions that have made Ejule and Kogi East safer.
Dr. Faruk appealed for more potable water, the revitalization of Ejule market, the construction of the Ejule/Allah to Egabada road, and improved education facilities. He pledged the support of Ejule Forum and the community to the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
In his response, Governor Ododo thanked the group for the visit and their support during the last governorship election. He stressed that unity is key to development and urged the people of Ejule to remain united and peaceful.
The Governor said Ejule and Ofu Local Government is very important to him, noting that the foundation of Kogi State was laid by a prominent son of Ofu, the late Prince Abubakar Audu.
He expressed concern over illegal mining activities in Kogi East, where mineral resources meant to develop the zone are being taken away while causing fights among the people. He urged the community to put aside politics and unite to protect and use the resources to the benefit of the land.
Governor Ododo advised traditional rulers to stop selling community lands to outsiders in order to curb insecurity. He pledged to complete ongoing internal roads and assured that more roads would be executed in phases.
He promised to look into the requests made by the group and revealed that efforts are ongoing to establish electricity transmission stations to improve power supply in Kogi East.
The Governor concluded by affirming that the Deputy Governor is the leader of Kogi East, adding that anyone seeking political office must go through him. He said the Deputy governor would then convene a stakeholders’ meeting to ensure broad acceptance of aspirants, noting that anyone who approaches him directly would be referred back to the Deputy Governor.
