Kogi Police, Joint Security Forces Rescue All 21 Abducted Victims in Ofu

The Kogi State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of all 21 persons abducted in Ofu Local Government Area of the state, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The victims were rescued following sustained and intelligence-led operations by a joint team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Military, Department of State Services (DSS), and other supporting security and auxiliary forces.
The latest development followed the earlier rescue of 10 Corps Members from the Egume Forest in Ofu LGA.

According to the Police Command, the joint security forces intensified pressure on the criminal elements operating within the Egume axis and adjoining forests, forcing the abductors to abandon the victims and flee the area.
The rescued victims are currently receiving necessary medical attention and undergoing debriefing as part of efforts to assess their condition and provide appropriate support.
The Command disclosed that one of the victims sustained a gunshot injury to the right leg and is receiving treatment. It, however, noted that no fatality was recorded during the rescue operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, commended the gallantry, professionalism and resilience of all personnel who participated in the rescue operation.
He also expressed appreciation to residents of the affected communities for their cooperation and timely provision of credible information, which the Command said contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
While celebrating the successful recovery of all the victims, the Police stressed that security operations are still ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The Command therefore urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, while advising residents to refrain from circulating unverified information that could compromise ongoing security operations.
The Kogi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and ensuring that those responsible for the abduction are brought to justice.
