Kogi Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara Attends the Formal Unveiling of OYA Movement
Commander Duro Jerry Omodara (rtd), the State Security Adviser to Kogi State Government, graced the momentous occasion of the launching and unveiling of Okun Youth Alliance Movement in Kabba yesterday, 14th February, 2025.
The event held at Lisa Palm Hotel Kabba, was well attended by top government officials, civil society organizations, business leaders, all from Okun origin.
In his address, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), expressed his satisfaction on the initiative and the unveiling ceremony. He conveyed his sincered felicitations to the initiators of the Movement for their commendable developmental initiatives.
Jerry Omodara expressed his delight at the unity that binds the Okun people, and encouraged that this Movement should further embark on impactful community development projects.
However, he spoke on the need to go back to the drawing board and map out new strategies that will prospect the Okun political future, stating that a new wine should not be put in an old skin.
He added that OYA Movement will help to address some challenges bedeviling the Okun people, noting that societal hunger has taken over the land. He also said that OYA Movement will help to bridge our political gaps going forward, affirming that the initiative will undoubtedly foster innovative ideas for the progress of the state.
Comdr. Omodara stressed that no senatorial district in Kogi State can produce the Governor of the State without forming alliance with other districts, he however noted that OYA Movement will be a great force for the Okun people for political negotiations with other districts in the state. OYA will help to bridge the gaps for our youth to be focused while the Elders project the way forward for Okun Nation. This is the right time to come together strongly to use the unity we have to get what we want. We must be decisive and well focused in our political alignment.
He used the occasion to send strict message to traditional rulers and youths of Okunland over the state government resolve against arbitrary sale of lands to unwanted visitors in the state.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities, including Rep. Salman Idris, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, Hon. Philip Orebiyi, Hon. (Barr) Dare Michael, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, Hon Otunba Yinka Braimoh, Hon. Segun Olobatoke, and others, adding an aura of significance to the occasion.
