KOGI STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, IDAH, EMERGES BEST COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN NORTHERN NIGERIA

The Kogi State College of Science and Technology, Idah,under the leadership of Sanitarian Umar Anataku Shuiabu, as Provost has emerged as the Best College of Health Sciences and Technology in Northern Nigeria for its outstanding performance in academic excellence, infrastructure, and healthcare manpower development.
The recognition was announced by DEMOCRACY NEWSLINE Newspaper ahead of its 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame, scheduled for Tuesday, 19th August, 2026 at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

The award is in recognition of the institution’s commitment to producing competent health professionals, improving accreditation status of programmes, and impacting communities through quality health services in the Northern region.
Announcing the honour, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, commended the Provost for providing visionary leadership that has repositioned the College as a model institution.
“Under Sanitarian Umar Anataku Shuiabu, the Kogi State College of Science and Technology, Idah, has recorded remarkable progress. From improved training facilities to enhanced staff welfare and stronger industry linkages, the College has set a new standard for health science and technology education in Northern Nigeria,” Chief Femi stated.
The College currently runs accredited programmes in Community Health, Environmental Health, Health Information Management, Pharmacy Technician, and other allied health courses. Graduates of the institution are serving in hospitals, primary health centres, and public health agencies across the country.
In his response, Sanitarian Umar Anataku Shuiabu expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Government, staff, and students for their support. He dedicated the award to the institution’s workforce and to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing education and healthcare development.
“This award belongs to the entire KOSTECH Idah family. It will motivate us to sustain the tempo of excellence and to produce more health professionals who will strengthen healthcare delivery in Nigeria,” the Provost said.
The award will be formally presented during the public lecture themed: “Economic Reforms and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigerian Experience.”
Education commissioners, health professionals, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria are expected to attend the event.
