KOGI STATE POLICE RESTORE NORMALCY IN OGANENIGU AREA, ASSURE RESIDENTS OF ADEQUATE SECURITY
The Kogi State Police Command wishes to address public concerns arising from a video circulating on social media regarding the security situation in Oganenigu Community, Dekina Local Government Area.
Following reports of tension linked to longstanding clashes between some villagers and Fulani herders, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi psc mni, immediately deployed Police Mobile Force personnel, operative of the violent crime response unit and other Tactical Teams to the area to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The Command confirms that normalcy has since been restored, while confidence-building patrols and security operations are ongoing. Preliminary assessments show that some residents had temporarily left the community out of fear of possible reprisal attacks from the previous report, as the area was already largely deserted at the time of the incident.
The Command further clarifies that, contrary to claims in the circulating video, only one (1) death has been officially confirmed as earlier communicated. No additional verified reports of fatalities have been received, and investigations are ongoing.
The Divisional Police Officer and deployed operatives continue to engage community leaders and stakeholders to sustain peace and encourage residents to return and resume normal activities without fear.
The Command urges the public to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with credible information.
The Commissioner of Police, reassures residents of the Command’s commitment to sustained peace and security across the area.
