Kogi State University, Kabba Mourns University Librarian, Dr. Mbashir Abdulateef Lanre

The management, staff and students of Kogi State University, Kabba, have been thrown into mourning following the death of the University Librarian, Dr. Mbashir Abdulateef Lanre, who passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The university announced the death in an obituary statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Oshaloto Tade J., on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, fNSM, FRA, the Governing Council, Management, staff and students of the institution.
According to the statement, Dr. Mbashir was a valued member of the university community whose contributions to the growth and development of Kogi State University, Kabba, would be remembered and appreciated.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed deep condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues, friends and associates, describing his passing as an irreparable loss to the university community and those who knew him.
Professor Eniola also prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, asking Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the university stated.
Dr. Mbashir’s death comes as a significant loss to Kogi State University, Kabba, where he served as University Librarian and contributed to the institution’s academic and administrative development.
The university community, colleagues, friends and associates are expected to continue to mourn and honour the memory of the deceased as arrangements for his burial are awaited.
