Kogi West Under Siege: Senator Karimi Raises Alarm as Bandits Kidnap Scores
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Sen. Sunday Karimi, has raised an alarm over the spate of kidnappings and killings in the zone.
He expressed distress over reports of killing and kidnapping of an unspecified number of worshipers at ECWA Church in Aiyetoro-Kiri community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in the early hour of today 14th December, 2025.
He said many of his constituents reportedly fled the community when the emboldened bandits returned to take over the community.
Sen. Karimi also noted that today similar incidents have occurred in Oke-Agi and Ilai communities in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, where people were kidnapped and killed in one of the Tiv communities in the area.
He emphasized that the worsening security situation in the entire district calls for urgent intervention from both federal and state governments, as well as all stakeholders, to tackle the issue head-on and rescue the people from the bandits attack
Sen. Karimi described the prolonged insecurity in the area as worrisome and called for concerted efforts to root out the bandits.
He charged security agencies, under the new Honorable Minister of Defense, Gen. Christopher Musa, to focus on the area.
He also recalled that the worshipers kidnapped at the Cherubim and Seraphim church in Yagba East local government area two weeks ago have not been released.
The senator’s appeal highlights the growing concern over insecurity in Kogi West, with communities living in fear of bandit attacks and kidnappings.
