KogiCARES: Govt. Extends Orientation For Beneficiaries Of LIPW To 3 Other LGAs

Kogi State Government, in continuation of the Kogi COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus (KogiCARES) via the Ministry of Youth Development and Sport, supported by the World Bank has extended orientation of selected prospective beneficiaries to 3 other Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Recall that it was reported that Kogi State Government launched the Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) on Friday, starting with Lokoja, Kogi and Ajaokuta LGAs.

The program which will go round all 21 LGAs has extended orientation of its proposed beneficiaries to Okene, Ogori/Mangogogo and Okehi LGAs under the leadership of Head of the LIPW Social Intervention program, Elder Oladipo Elkanah.

Mr. Oloruntoba Samson, the Head Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit in Okene LG during interview explained the protocol of work for the beneficiaries, saying they have to work 3 to 4 hours daily to earn the stipends.

Also in Okene, a Gender Officer representative, Latifah Jimoh said the program embraced not less than 60% women and about 40% men as women are the most vulnerable.

Mr. Abdul Joshua Neighbour, the Project Accountant in Okehi LG orientation emphasized the importance of work, stressing “No Work, No Pay”.

Mr. Adejoh Felix, the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) official of the ministry, who also metamorphosised to be the Project Training Officer, speaking in Okehi orientation program, encourage the beneficiaries to take the work seriously, adding that report of activities will be taken from the Beneficiary Supervisors and the Community Development Officers (CDOs).

The program also held seamlessly in Ogori/Mangogogo, having the beneficiaries in appreciation.

The Caretaker Chairman of Ogori/Mangogogo, Hon. Rosemary Oheize earlier declared the program open, she expressed appreciation concerning the consideration of not less than 60% women, emphasizing the vulnerability and poverty of women in the society.
