The Ifelodun Local Government Area Council of Kwara State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Oro-Ago district following rising security concerns.
The decision comes amid sustained military operations in the area aimed at flushing out bandits suspected to be hiding in nearby forests.
The chairman of the council, Hon. Femi Yusuf, announced the curfew in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by his press secretary, Abdulquadri Jimba.
According to the statement, the curfew took effect from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as part of a coordinated security strategy to disrupt the activities of suspected terrorists and ensure the safety of lives and property.
It stressed that all human and vehicular movements are strictly prohibited during the curfew to allow security agencies to conduct an effective clearance operation.
Residents were urged to remain calm and cooperate fully with security personnel, as violators of the order will be dealt with according to the law.
The council assured the public that further updates and a possible review of the curfew would be communicated as the security situation develops.
