The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three police officers and the injury of two others following an ambush by suspected armed bandits in Bakori Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday in Katsina, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Aliyu Abubakar, said the attack occurred on Tuesday at about 12:44 p.m. during a routine anti-crime patrol along the Guga–Bakori axis.
According to him, the patrol team was ambushed by armed hoodlums who opened fire sporadically. He said the officers responded gallantly and succeeded in repelling the attackers.

“Sadly, three of our officers paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, while two others sustained gunshot injuries,” Abubakar said.
He added that the injured officers were immediately taken to the nearest hospital and are currently responding to treatment.

The police spokesperson disclosed that investigations have commenced to track down and arrest those responsible for the attack, assuring the public that the command remains committed to maintaining security across the state. (NAN)
