Law Officers Issue Strike Notice to Kogi Government Over Unresolved Demands
The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kogi State Chapter, has issued a formal seven-day warning strike notice to the state government over unresolved welfare demands.
This was contained in a statement signed by the association’s Chairman, Mr. Shola Yusuf, on Thursday in Lokoja.
According to Mr. Yusuf, despite several engagements with the Ministry of Justice management and repeated letters of appeal to Governor Ahmed Ododo, the law officers’ legitimate demands remain unattended.
The demands include:
– Harmonization of law officers’ salaries with those of magistrates
– Payment of members’ bar practicing fees
– Settlement of the association’s 2025 Annual Bar Conference fees
– Reversal of the removed hazard allowance
– Correction of wrong placement of members on grade levels below their year of call
The statement read, “Unless the above highlighted issues are addressed within 14 days from the date of this notice, members of LOAN in Kogi shall proceed on a seven-day warning strike.”
The association emphasized that the notice serves as a final call on the state government to act with urgency and fairness to avert disruptions in the administration of justice in the state.
