Leke Abejide’s Grassroots Development Endeavours Endear Him to Yagba People – Emmanuel Obaro
The member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Emmanuel Obaro, has attributed the growing support for the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, to his grassroots development initiatives and commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents.
Obaro disclosed this in Isanlu during the homecoming rally organised in honour of Abejide. Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the event, he said Abejide’s approach to representation, particularly his focus on community development and people-oriented interventions, had strengthened his relationship with constituents across Yagba Federal Constituency, comprising Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
According to Obaro, the impact of a representative should be measured not only by legislative activities but also by the tangible benefits delivered to the people at the grassroots. He noted that Abejide’s development initiatives and engagement with his constituents could be important factors in determining his political fortunes ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
He observed that Abejide’s development-oriented approach had continued to attract attention among constituents who desire purposeful representation, improved infrastructure, economic opportunities and programmes capable of addressing the needs of ordinary citizens.
Obaro maintained that grassroots development remains a critical factor in building public confidence in democratic institutions, stressing that elected representatives must remain connected to their constituents and ensure that governance produces meaningful results in their communities.
He added that effective representation requires regular engagement with the people, responsiveness to their needs and the implementation of initiatives that promote social and economic development.
The lawmaker further emphasised the importance of collaboration among political leaders and stakeholders in Yagbaland, noting that collective efforts would help accelerate development and address the challenges confronting communities across the federal constituency.
He said sustained investment in human capital development, youth empowerment, support for women and improved social infrastructure would contribute significantly to the growth and prosperity of the area.
Obaro’s remarks highlight the importance of grassroots engagement and constituency-focused development in shaping the relationship between elected officials and the people they represent. They also underscore the role of development initiatives and public service delivery in discussions about political representation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
