The Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Dr. Monday Dare Joshua, popularly known as Venza, has attributed the growing acceptability of the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, across Yagba land to his remarkable contributions to grassroots development and his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents.
He disclosed this while speaking with journalists shortly after the closing ceremony of the homecoming rally organised in honour of Abejide in Isanlu, the headquarters of Yagba East Local Government Area.
According to him, Abejide’s development-driven representation, people-oriented initiatives and interventions across the constituency have continued to strengthen his relationship with the people, earning him widespread recognition and support among residents of Yagba Federal Constituency.
He further disclosed that the three local government chairmen in Yagba Federal Constituency decided to organise the event in honour of Abejide in recognition of his giant strides and contributions to the overall development of the area.
The council chairman stated that Abejide had demonstrated that effective representation goes beyond occupying a political office, stressing that the impact of a representative should be measured by tangible projects, empowerment programmes and other initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people.
He noted that Abejide’s commitment to community development had endeared him to people across political and social divides, adding that his interventions had continued to strengthen public confidence in his leadership and capacity to represent the constituency.
Venza further observed that grassroots development remained a critical factor in building public trust, particularly in rural communities where residents expect elected representatives to address their basic needs and contribute meaningfully to socio-economic growth.
He maintained that Abejide’s development initiatives had deepened his connection with the people, noting that his approach to representation had earned him goodwill across the three local government areas that make up Yagba Federal Constituency: Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro.
The Yagba East chairman also commended Abejide for the various developmental initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and promoting the overall development of communities across Yagba land.
He added that the people of Yagba would continue to appreciate leaders whose actions translate into measurable benefits for their communities, emphasising that responsive representation remained essential to achieving sustainable grassroots development.
Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has remained a prominent political figure in the area, with his supporters pointing to his development initiatives and constituency interventions as evidence of his commitment to the people.
The chairman’s remarks underscore the importance of performance, accessibility and community impact in shaping political acceptance across Yagba land.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of future electoral contests, Abejide’s record of constituency engagement and grassroots development is expected to remain a significant factor in discussions about representation and leadership in Yagba Federal Constituency.
