KOGI STATE: MEET YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS

RT HON Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba – Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly.

Rt Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Ojoma Egwaba is a trailblazer and history maker in the annals of Kogi State. She is not only the first female Deputy Speaker in the Assembly, but is also the first Deputy Speaker. The lawmaker represents Ibaji State Constituency.

Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba hails from Echeño, Ibaji Local Government Area was born on the 3rd of January 1967 in Ganye, Adamawa State, Nigeria.

She had her primary education at RCM primary school, Anyingba, between 1973 – 1979, where she obtained the First School Leaving Certificate and her secondary education at Government Girls Secondary School, Idah, between 1979 – 1985.

She thereafter proceeded to the School of Health Technology, Idah, Kogi State between 1986 – 1988 and the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom – Jos, Plateau State between 1990 – 1994 where she obtained a National Diploma (ND) and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Medical Laboratory Technology respectively.

In 2017, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) Peace Study and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba started her working career with Reliance Diagnostic Centre, Makurdi, Benue State, between 1989 – 1990 as a Medical Laboratory Technician, a position she also held at the Ajaka Medical Center, Igalamela/Odolu LGA, Kogi State between 1990 – 1994; and at the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, between 1995 – 1996.

She was the Head of Unit of the Family Support Program Clinic, Lokoja, between 1997 – 1999 as a Principal Laboratory Technician and the Chief Medical Laboratory Technician at the Primary Health Care Center, Onyedega, Ibaji LGA between 2000 – 2022 before she voluntarily retired from service in 2022 to join active politics.

Rt Hon Egwaba is also the Chairperson, House Committee on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Kogi State House of Assembly.

– Member, House Committee on Solid Mineral, Kogi State House of Assembly.
