Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu Showcases Steel Sector Reforms and Investment Opportunities as President Tinubu Declares 5th AFNIS Opened in Abuja
The Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, joined the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, OON, and other African ministers at the opening of the 5th African Natural Resources and Energy Investment (AFNIS) Summit 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking on the theme “One Africa, One Resource Vision”, Minister Audu emphasised the need for Africa to leverage its vast natural resources to drive industrialisation, value addition, and sustainable economic development, reiterating the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) administration to repositioning Nigeria’s steel sector as a catalyst for industrial growth and economic diversification.
Declaring the summit open, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represented by Mr Dele Alake, said the theme reflects Africa’s collective resolve to transform its resource wealth into economic power and shared prosperity. He further urged African nations to move beyond the export of raw materials and focus on building industries, developing skills, and strengthening value chains.
Delivering His Ministerial Address, Mr Alake states that AFNIS is a strategic platform for advancing investment and development across the continent, stressing the need for Africa to move beyond exporting raw minerals to promoting value addition, industrialisation, and greater retention of wealth within its economies.
