NAGGMDP Applauds Ododo’s Two Years of Health Sector Reforms in Kogi
The Kogi State chapter of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) look has commended Governor Usman Ododo for what it described as “remarkable and people-centred achievements” in the health sector as he marks two years in office.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and jointly signed by the State Chairman of the association, Dr. Olukoya Taiwo, and the Secretary, Dr. Idris Ibrahim Nuhu, the body said the Ododo administration has demonstrated purposeful leadership, particularly in strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.
According to the statement, one of the most notable achievements of the administration is the prompt and consistent payment of salaries to health workers, a development the association said has significantly boosted morale and improved service delivery in public health facilities.
“Of particular note are the prompt and consistent payment of salaries to health workers, which has greatly enhanced motivation, professionalism, and efficiency in service delivery,” the statement read. “This singular intervention has restored confidence among healthcare workers and translated into better patient care across Kogi State.”
The association also praised the expansion and strengthening of the state’s health insurance scheme, noting that it has increased access to quality and affordable healthcare for residents.
“We commend the strengthening and expansion of health insurance coverage under this administration, which has ensured that more Kogites can access quality healthcare without undue financial burden,” the statement added. “This reflects a deep commitment to social protection and the wellbeing of the people.”
NAGGMDP further applauded the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Azeez, describing him as a pragmatic and visionary leader whose policy direction has helped turn the governor’s vision into concrete results.
“We specially appreciate the pragmatic and visionary leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Azeez, whose dedication and policy drive have translated His Excellency’s vision into tangible outcomes within the health sector,” the association stated.
The body also acknowledged the contributions of the Chief Medical Director of the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr. Ayo Olayemi, for what it described as effective hospital administration and professional leadership.
“We equally recognise the significant role played by the Chief Medical Director, HMB, Dr. Ayo Olayemi, whose effective management of public hospitals has contributed immensely to these commendable strides recorded in the sector,” the statement said.
Reaffirming its support for the Ododo administration, NAGGMDP noted that frontline medical practitioners across the state are already experiencing the positive impact of the ongoing reforms.
“As frontline medical practitioners, we can confidently attest that these reforms have positively impacted healthcare delivery across Kogi State,” the association said. “We remain committed to partnering with the present administration to consolidate these gains and to advance quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare for all Kogites.”
The association concluded by offering prayers for the governor, wishing him continued wisdom, good health, and strength to lead the state to greater heights.
“We pray that God Almighty grants His Excellency continued wisdom, sound health, and strength as he steers Kogi State towards greater development,” the statement added. “Please accept the assurances of our highest esteem and warm congratulations on your two years in office.”
