Niger State Governor Advances Partnership Talks with European Union
Minna, June 17, 2025 –
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has taken a significant step towards strengthening ties with the European Union.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, received a delegation from the European Union at his office in Minna.
The meeting aimed to further discuss potential partnership opportunities in key areas such as education, agriculture, peace, and security.
Governor Bago emphasized the importance of collaboration with corporate organizations, citing the state’s growing population and the need to improve public institutions.
The Governor highlighted the administration’s efforts to provide quality education in a secure society, stressing that peace and security are essential for development.
The Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union, Zissimos Vergos, stated that their visit was aimed at deepening discussions for sustainable partnership with the state.
The EU delegation also plans to visit state-owned universities to explore further partnership opportunities.
Vergos extended the condolences of the European Union to the government and people of Niger State over the recent Mokwa flood disaster.
This development is expected to open up new avenues for cooperation and support for Niger State, potentially enhancing the lives of its citizens and contributing to the state’s development.
