NMA meets Gov. Ododo, promises to strengthen free medical outreach in Kogi
The new exco of the Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA) Kogi State branch has concluded plans to strengthen her committee for Free Medical Outreach, following the meeting in Government House Lokoja on Monday with the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The Governor of the State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ahmed Ododo commended the great effort of the NMA Kogi Committee of Past Chairmen which delivered an unprecedented medical outreach in Okene town.
According to Governor Ododo
“A healthy society is a wealthy society. I will continue to support you in this exercise and to ensure that it reaches our people in all parts of the state. I want you to count on my support as we work together to make the free medical outreach a flagship programme in our calendar of medical activities in the state so that we can make healthcare more accessible and affordable to our people.”
He called on medical practitioners in the state to sustain their support for the administration and expand the scope of their collaboration with the government through the state ministry of health.
The request by the governor for another free medical outreach before the end of the year was discussed at the meeting of the State Officers Committee (SOC) on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja following the visit to Government House Lokoja.
The new NMA Kogi State branch Chairman, Dr Abubakar Alhassan has promised the State Officers Committee (SOC) that the strengthened committee will be such that gaps discovered at the Okene outreach will be filled up.
The medical doctors and other healthcare providers who formed the team for the Okene medical outreach were warmly received by the governor in their number in Government House Lokoja.
