No APC Ward Congress in Kogi central, says aggrieved members, alleges hijack of process
Discordant tunes has continue to trail the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Ward Congress, held on Wednesday 19 February 2026 to elect party officials in the 239 ward of the state.
Some members of the party who spoke with our correspondent, alleged that the process was hijacked by some powerful forces within the party, saying that there are no signs of gathering of party members in virtually all the wards in Kogi central to elect their officials.
Expressing his view Osibodi Sunday a youth activist from Ogori/Magongo condemned the exercise in totality, describing the entire process as pure electoral fraud allegedly perpetuated by the few in authority.

Also speaking, Isah Adaviruku from Okene local government area described the ward congress as the worst electoral manipulation since the country’s return to civil rule.
He said “How can you sit somewhere and write names of your choice for onward submission to the party national secretariat and call it a congress, the purpose of the APC e-registration of party members is defeated already ”
He urge the party at national level to look into this ugly incident that took place in kogi central senatorial District if the party want to remain as one political family.
In his remarks on the congress, Mallam Siyaka Opotu from Okehi local government area described the entire congress as a waist of party resources, alleging that the said ward Congresses have been compromised by the power that be.
He said APC and other political parties mode of electing party officials were designs to fail, saying the bad process gave rooms for manipulation of figures, change or replacement of names through back door with the active connivance of officials at the party headquarter.
Speaking further, he appeal to the part national chairman to set up committee to look into what was submitted and allow other stakeholders to make an input in the over all interest of the party. “The era of impunity and political shenanigan must be halted”.
The situation is not different in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, as some members in the area also alleged that there are no signs of any APC ward Congress in the area on that day.
However, a member of the party told our correspondent in confidence that the party in the are had adopted the consus method of selecting the ward executives, adding that in Ajaokuta they have also decided to affirm the current executives.
“We decided to adopt the census method of electing our executives.
Our leaders in their wisdom also felt that the current executives should be allowed to continue. So what we have done is just an affirmation, that is why there no people here. He said
Credible information indicated that the situation is not different in the other parts of the state (Kogi west and East of the state).
All efforts to speak with the state APC Chairman Hon. Abdullahi Bello were not successful, as he did not respond to his calls and did no respond to messages sent to him.
