Ododo Wins Ibaji, Bassa Confidence as Communities Pledge Stronger Support Ahead of 2027, Hail November 9 Road Flag-Off

The people of Ibaji and Bassa Local Government Areas of Kogi State have commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritising their development needs, particularly road infrastructure, pledging stronger support for his administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The communities made the pledge during a courtesy visit to Governor Ododo at the Government House, Lokoja, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, to appreciate his administration’s commitment to addressing critical development challenges confronting the two local government areas.

Speaking with journalists after the engagement, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security Hon Timothy Ojoma described the visit as an opportunity for the people to express their gratitude to the Governor for responding to their developmental needs without waiting for repeated demands.

He noted that road infrastructure remained the foremost priority of the people of Ibaji and Bassa, stressing that Governor Ododo had demonstrated a clear understanding of their challenges through deliberate efforts to provide lasting solutions.

The Commissioner disclosed that the Governor would flag off the construction of a major road project in Ibaji on Monday, November 9, 2026, explaining that the postponement of the initial flag-off was to ensure adequate preparation and the availability of necessary construction equipment for immediate and effective commencement.

According to him, Governor Ododo had gone beyond routine project planning by conducting engineering assessments during the rainy season to establish the actual water levels and determine the technical requirements for constructing a durable road that would withstand the area’s peculiar terrain and environmental conditions.

He further revealed that the engineering design had been made available months ahead of the flag-off to allow for scrutiny, professional input and necessary improvements, assuring the people that the project would meet the required standards of quality and durability.

The Commissioner described the Governor’s approach as evidence of a leadership committed to sustainable development rather than politically motivated promises, assuring the people that the anticipated road project would significantly improve connectivity, economic activities and the overall wellbeing of residents.

He urged the people of Ibaji and Bassa to reciprocate the Governor’s developmental commitment with continued support, unity and political loyalty, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Recalling the political challenges of 2023, he expressed confidence that the people would do even more to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ododo and the APC, noting that the administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends deserved corresponding grassroots support.

“The message to our people is simple. All we want is development, and we have a leader who is providing it without waiting for us to ask. We believe in the leadership of His Excellency and our Supreme Leader, former Governor Yahaya Bello. We are witnessing the development he envisioned, and this time, we are going to do even more,” he stated.
