OLAJENGBESI TO LEADERS: PUT MONEY IN EDUCATION FOR MORE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
KEHINDE AKINPELU ILORIN
Accord Candidate Speaks at Adeleke University’s 12th Convocation, Backs Adeleke for Second Term

It was pomp, pride and purpose at Adeleke University, Ede Osun State on Sunday as hundreds of graduates walked out with various degrees. And for Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord candidate for Obokun/Ori-Ade Federal Constituency, the ceremony was a reminder of what Nigeria needs most right now: serious investment in education.

Speaking on the sidelines of the university’s 12th Convocation, Olajengbesi told journalists that no nation grows by accident.

“People in positions of authority must invest heavily in education*,” he said. “*It is the most critical factor for national development. Any nation that underestimates the value of knowledge will reap underdevelopment.”

For the lawyer and politician, the event was not just about caps and gowns. It was, in his words, “a celebration of knowledge” — a moment when young Nigerians are being released into the workforce to build industries, solve problems, and drive the economy.

Olajengbesi did not hold back in praising the institution. He described Adeleke University as one of the best private universities in Nigeria today*, citing its academic standards, serene learning environment, and impact on human capital.

Much of the credit, he said, goes to the founder, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke.

“*The intention of the founding father was to make the learning environment better for academic pursuit. Today, we can see the results in the quality of graduates being produced here,*” he noted.

According to him, schools like Adeleke University are helping to close gaps in Nigeria’s education sector and are giving students good reasons to stay and study at home instead of chasing degrees abroad.

The Accord candidate also switched to politics, speaking in his capacity as Official Spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council.

With the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026 drawing closer, Olajengbesi expressed no doubts about the outcome.

“Gov. Adeleke is a popular candidate in this election and his victory is certain, ” he declared. “This is because of the strategic infrastructural development his administration has put in place across the 30 local government areas of the state.”

He urged voters in Osun to turn out in large numbers to support the PDP-led government, arguing that continuity is needed to protect gains in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and workers’ welfare.

The convocation itself drew a large crowd — dignitaries, royal fathers, parents, and graduands from undergraduate and postgraduate programmes filled the university auditorium in celebration.

For Olajengbesi, the message was clear: graduate more students, fund more schools, and Nigeria will have more leaders to take it forward.
