Oluku Day 2025: Engr. Olumoriti Calls for Mobilisation of Youths and Women in Agriculture

By Samuel Temiloluwa – Lokoja

The Managing Director of the Lower Niger River Basin Authority, Ilorin, Engr. George Olumoriti, who served as the Chairman of Oluku Day 2025, has emphasized the need for youths and women to be mobilized for agricultural production, highlighting the vast opportunities available in the sector.

In his address, delivered by Dare Olumoriti, he stressed that agriculture is no longer limited to subsistence farming but has evolved into a value-driven sector that includes agribusiness, agro-processing, mechanization, and export opportunities.

He urged stakeholders to create enabling environments, advocate for supportive policies, and mentor young people to see agriculture as a profitable and dignified career path.

The event featured prominent speakers, including Professor Veronica Obatolu and Dr. Olu Adebola, who shared their expertise in research, education, and agricultural development.

Olumoriti encouraged youths and women to believe in their capacity to lead change, citing the opportunities available in agriculture.

The event was seen as a turning point, marking a commitment to action, inclusion, and building a prosperous, self-reliant, and food-secure future for Oluku, Kogi State, and Nigeria.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates and cheques to 20 outstanding indigent students from across secondary schools in Kabba district, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
