The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Rufai Sani Abdullahi, declared every first Saturday of the month as “PAAU Fitness Exercise Day,” reaffirming the popular saying that “Health is Wealth.”

He commended the Director of Sports, Mr. Moses Balogun, as well as staff and students, for turning out in large numbers to participate in the maiden edition of the exercise, describing the response as a demonstration of their commitment to healthy living and collective wellness.

Professor Abdullahi stated that regular participation in physical exercise would not only improve personal health but would also enhance productivity, efficiency and overall performance both in the workplace and at home.

He however, encouraged members of the University community to embrace the monthly fitness exercise and make it an integral part of their lifestyle.

Earlier, the Director of Sports, Mr. Moses Balogun, stated that the initiative was formally flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor as part of deliberate efforts to encourage a culture of healthy living, physical fitness and personal wellbeing among members of the University community.

As part of the activities marking the event, a novelty football match was played between Federal University Lokoja and Steeler Football Club of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

The match, organized in honour of the Vice-Chancellor as a welcome gesture to the institution, ended in favour of PAAU, with Steeler Football Club defeating Federal University Lokoja by two (2) goals to one (1).

The Vice-Chancellor commended both teams for their display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition, describing sports as an important tool for promoting friendship, discipline, unity and mutual understanding amongst institutions.

He reiterated Management’s commitment to initiatives that would promote staff and students’ welfare, healthy living and the overall advancement of the University community.
