Police Officers Killings: Senator Karimi Visits NPF Isanlu Division

●Commiserates Finance Commissioner, Asiru, on father’s passing

For the second time within eight days, Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi West) on Saturday visited his constituency in response to the recrudescence of incidents of insecurity in the area. This time, the lawmaker visited officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Isanlu Division, Yagba East Local Government Area, to comiserate with them over the unfortunate killings of two of their men in the line of duty.

It will be recalled that two mobile policemen were reportedly killed during an ambush by unidentified gunmen along Ilafin-Isanlu Road, penultimate week. The incident occurred barely one week after six operatives lost their lives in Yagba West Local Government Area to bandit attacks.

Following the previous killings in YagbaWest involving three policemen and two vigilantes, the lawmaker had cut short his trip abroad to visit, commiserate with the victims’ families and made donations, iIncluding the NPF (Egbe Division).

On Saturday, Senator Karimi returned to base. He visited the NPF Isanlu Division, where he encouraged the officers to be strong and remain patriotic even in these trying times. He assured them of President Tinubu’s commitment to securing Nigeria and the efforts of other tiers of government in securing the lives of the people in the area.

Addressing the officers, he disclosed that he was with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Friday, noting that “efforts are in top gear to provide more equipment to the NPF to better tackle the security challenges”.

Similarly, in a show of empathy and support for the families of the officers who lost their lives during the Ilafin-Isanlu road ambush, the lawmaker made financial donations to their families to alleviate their pains.

He was accompanied by the Chairman of Yagba East LGA, Mr Dare Joshua, and other stakeholders.

Earlier on Saturday, Senator Karimi was at the Bagido-Isanlu family residence of the Kogi State Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Ashiru Idris to commiserate with him and Isanlu community over the demise of the latter’s father, Alhaji Ijagbemi Ashiru who died few days ago at Bagido-Isanlu.

Senator Sunday Karimi prayed Allah to accept into Aljanatul and for the repose of the soul of the departed, while also praying for the fortitude to bear the loss for the family members and the community at large.
