Plateau State Enforces Monthly Sanitation Amidst Non-Compliance
By Azi Peter – Jos
The Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) conducted its routine monthly sanitation exercise for September, but encountered non-compliance in some areas.
Enforcement teams visited Bauchi Road, Angwan Rogo, Angwan Rimi, and Farin Gada Market, where defaulters were found conducting business as usual.
Mobile courts prosecuted offenders, with some arrested, fined, or paying stipulated penalties under PEPSA laws.
The situation at Farin Gada Market was particularly concerning, with traders operating in unsanitary conditions without participating in the exercise.
Similarly, shops and restaurants in Alheri were fully operational, facing the agency’s full wrath.
The enforcement team, led by PEPSA General Manager Samuel Dapiya, vowed to sanction defaulters and warned motorists, especially those at Gada Biu motor park. Dapiya was accompanied by Director of Administration, Dauda Izang Pate, and other directors.
