RE: “HYPOCRITES IN KEBBI APC BEGINS WORK” – A RESPECTFUL CLARIFICATION.
By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Democracy Newsline Newspaper 25th November 2025
My attention has been drawn to a recent publication titled “Hypocrites in Kebbi APC Begins Work,” which attempted to cast aspersions on the Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki and his genuine concerns expressed during his recent media engagements.
Ordinarily, neither I nor my principal would consider it necessary to respond, especially at a time when the entire state is united in prayer and collective effort towards the safe return of the abducted students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga. However, for the purpose of clarity, respect for truth, and in the interest of maintaining the cordial relationship that exists between leaders of our dear state, a polite clarification has become necessary.
1. SENATOR MAIDOKI MAINTAINS A CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS EXCELLENCY, GOVERNOR NASIRU IDRIS
It is important to state clearly that Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki enjoys a cordial and respectful relationship with His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasiru Idris, Kauran Gwandu, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State.
The Senator has never, at any time, accused the Governor nor acted in a manner meant to undermine his authority.
He has consistently acknowledged the Governor as our leader and has repeatedly noted that all political stakeholders in Kebbi—whether APC or PDP—remain under the same umbrella when it concerns security, development, and the peace of our beloved people.
2. SENATOR MAIDOKI’S STATEMENTS WERE MISINTERPRETED
The Distinguished Senator’s recent media engagements were aimed strictly at highlighting the plight of communities affected by insecurity and drawing national attention to the challenges so that both state and federal authorities can work together more effectively.
At no point did he claim that “200 communities” were displaced, nor did he make any baseless allegations. His remarks were strictly based on reports brought to him by his constituents—people he has a constitutional and moral duty to speak for.
Where discrepancies exist, they should be addressed with civility, not name-calling.
3. THE SENATOR HAS ALWAYS SUPPORTED SECURITY EFFORTS OF BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS
Senator Maidoki has repeatedly commended the efforts of His Excellency Governor Nasiru Idris, security agencies, traditional rulers, and the Defence Headquarters.
His interventions at the National Assembly have been purely to attract more support, more logistics, and more federal presence to Kebbi State.
This should not be misconstrued as antagonism, especially when both the Governor and the Senator desire the same thing—peace and safety for Kebbi people.
4. DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS SHOULD UNITE, NOT DIVIDE US
The Distinguished Senator has never condemned any socially or economically beneficial project initiated by the State Government.
What he has always advocated is transparency, prioritization, and a united approach to development.
Healthy democratic engagement should not be mistaken for hostility.
5. ALLEGATIONS OF POLITICAL CONSPIRACY ARE UNNECESSARY
The attempt to drag Senator Maidoki into imaginary alliances or assign ulterior motives to him is unfortunate and unnecessary.
Politics must never overshadow the security concerns of our people.
At a time when the state and the nation are working tirelessly to rescue abducted students, it is wrong to create divisions or peddle unfounded political theories.
Distinguished Senator Maidoki remains focused on his legislative responsibilities and service to the people of Kebbi South. Any attempt to link him with plots against His Excellency Governor Nasiru Idris or President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is entirely baseless.
6. A CALL FOR MATURITY, UNITY, AND RESPONSIBLE POLITICS
The APC in Kebbi State—just like the PDP and every other political platform—is made up of respected leaders who have contributed immensely to the growth of our democratic space.
It is our belief that responsible politics requires that we discuss issues without resorting to insults, character assassination, or the demonization of young people for participating in online discourse.
As leaders, we must set a better example.
CONCLUSION
Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki remains committed to:
supporting His Excellency Governor Nasiru Idris in efforts to secure the state,
working with all leaders irrespective of party affiliation, and
promoting unity, peace, and development for the people of Kebbi State.
He believes deeply that Kebbi’s challenges can only be solved through cooperation, not confrontation.
Let it therefore be emphasized that the Senator stands firmly under the same umbrella of service with His Excellency the Governor—and will continue to offer constructive support whenever needed.
Signed:
Hon. Dantani Yalo
Special Assistant to Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki
