Retired Air Force Officer Napoleon Bali Joins APC, Eyes Plateau Senate Seat
Air Vice Marshal Napoleon Bali, a retired two-star air force officer with 35 years’ service, recently joined partisan politics and served briefly as a senator representing Southern Plateau.
Speaking with the press during the Plateau State 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) state Congress, he explained that he joined politics in 2023, won an election, but later had his mandate annulled by the courts on technical grounds.
Bali accepted the ruling, switched to the APC, and plans to run again, focusing on leadership as service with public safety and peace as priorities.
As chairman of the Plateau State Security Advisory Committee, he emphasized strengthening security through increased troop deployments, improved training, and night operations.
He credits President Bola Tinubu with adopting some measures and calls for further implementation. Bali plans to take his security agenda to the National Assembly to make Nigeria safer.
Despite his mandate being annulled, he claims to have remained connected to constituents, citing grassroots interventions like drilling boreholes and supporting businesses.
Bali reports the APC’s state congress is well-organized, with delegates convened at the local government level, pursuing a consensus approach.
He defers judgement to God and the electorate, projecting optimism about his future electoral success due to his security-focused platform and grassroots presence.
