DEFENDING TRUTH AND ACCOUNTABILITY: A RIGHT OF REPLY TO ABDUSSAMAD JAMIL BAUSHE GYARANYA (SAMADI DAN SARKI).

By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Democracy Newsline Northern Bureau Chief April 22, 2026

In response to the recent statements made by Abdussamad Jamil Baushe Gyaranya (Samadi Dan Sarki) on April 18, 2026, it has become necessary to set the record straight and present a clearer picture grounded in facts, not sentiments or selective narratives.

Your remarks attempt to glorify and defend an individual whose tenure and conduct as State Chairman were marked not by unity, respect, or progress, but by division, arrogance, and disregard for party values. It is both misleading and unfair to portray such a figure as a shield for the people when, in reality, his actions consistently undermined the very foundation of the party he was entrusted to lead.

You described him as a protector—someone who absorbed insults and defended the dignity of the APC and its members. However, the reality experienced by many party faithful tells a very different story. During his leadership, countless members—young and old, loyal and committed—were subjected to insults, humiliation, and unjust treatment. Rather than being a unifying force, he often acted as a source of conflict.

It is on record that under his leadership:
Individuals of proven integrity and strong character were openly disrespected and sidelined.
Party members were frequently insulted, discouraged, and in some cases pushed out of active participation.
Aspirants were denied the fundamental right to contest unless they had prior personal agreements or allegiance to him.
Internal democracy was weakened, replaced by control, favoritism, and imposition.

Party resources were not transparently managed, raising serious concerns among stakeholders.
This is not the legacy of a leader who protected the party—this is the pattern of leadership that stifled growth, silenced voices, and created unnecessary divisions within the APC in Kano State.

You also suggested that without him, APC members would not have been able to openly identify themselves across Kano State. This claim is not only exaggerated but dismisses the courage and resilience of countless party members who stood firm despite challenges—not because of him, but often in spite of his leadership style.

Leadership is not about control, intimidation, or self-glorification. It is about service, respect, inclusion, and accountability. A leader who lacks human relations, respect for others, and the intellectual capacity to unite people cannot be presented as a hero simply to suit a narrative.

Yes, every father, elder, and youth in the APC has played a role in defending the party’s dignity. But no single individual should claim ownership of that struggle—especially one whose tenure left behind a trail of grievances and dissatisfaction.

It is understandable that political loyalty may influence perspective, but truth must always take precedence over sentiment. The APC is bigger than any one individual, and its future depends on honest reflection, not blind defense.
This Right of Reply is not driven by malice, but by the responsibility to ensure that history is not rewritten inaccurately and that the voices of those who were silenced are finally acknowledged.

Signed,

Concerned Stakeholders of APC
April 2026
