SDP Banishes Nasir El-Rufai for 30 Years
By Joseph Martin – Abuja
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has banished Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, a former Governor of Kaduna State, for 30 years.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made the decision after determining that El-Rufai had not lawfully joined the party despite claims to the contrary.
According to the SDP, Spokesperson, Amb. Rufus Aiyenigba, El-Rufai failed to register at his ward, forged documents, and self-registered, claiming to be “number 001” in the SDP membership register of Unguwar Sarki Ward, Kaduna North Local Government Area.
The party also accused him of destabilizing the party, sponsoring dissidents, and engaging in unconstitutional activities.
The NWC, exercising its powers under the party’s constitution, expelled El-Rufai from the party and banned him from participating in any SDP activities for 30 years.
The party notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant agencies of El-Rufai’s non-member status.
The SDP emphasized its commitment to national patriotism, party discipline, and ideological clarity, welcoming Nigerians who subscribe to these ideals.
