SDP COMMISERATES WITH IJEBU NATION OVER PASSING OF AWUJALE
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has extended its condolences to the Ijebu nation following the passing of the Awujale of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona (GCON), Ogbagba Agbotewole II.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the party described the late monarch as a courageous and visionary leader who was committed to the unity and development of Nigeria.
The SDP noted that Awujale Adetona’s reign, which spanned 65 years, was marked by remarkable transformation and progress in the Ijebu kingdom.
The party praised the late monarch for his dedication to building bridges across Nigeria’s divides and for his contributions to the socio-economic and political development of the Ijebu nation.
The SDP also commended his commitment to keeping Nigeria as one indivisible strong nation.
The party’s Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, led the SDP leadership in condoled with the government and people of Ogun State, as well as the immediate family of the late Oba, praying for the repose of his great soul.
The SDP’s tribute to the late Awujale Adetona highlights his enduring legacy as one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarchs and a champion of national unity.
