SDP Re-elects Kogi State Executives as Chairman Calls for Unity
The National Working Committee of the Social Democratic Party led by Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam on Tuesday the 19th May , 2026 returned the entire Kogi State Working Committee of the party for a second term in office.
The state congress, supervised by officials from the party’s national secretariat, saw all executive members returned unopposed, with Moses Peter re-elected as state chairman.
The electoral committee was headed by Hon. Abubakar Ibrahim as Chairman, alongside Comrade Halilu S. Salawudeen as Secretary and Chief Audu Abdulkadir as member.
Other officials returned unopposed include Hon. Muhammed Sanni Yusuf as Deputy Chairman, Dr. Arome Okeme as Secretary, Hon. Shaibu Ojo Jimoh as Zonal Vice Chairman (Central), Pastor Sunday Atabor as Zonal Vice Chairman (East), and Adebayo Emmanuel as Zonal Vice Chairman (West).
Also re-elected were Abdul Daniadi Yerima as Organising Secretary, Nafisat D. Adam as Treasurer, Egbunu Raphael Moses as Financial Secretary, Ajibua Festus Chris-Davies as Youth Leader, and Hon. Mariam Abubakar as Women Leader.
Other members of the state executive committee are Hon. Omolagu Simon Shola as Legal Adviser, Opanachi Obaje as Welfare Secretary, Musa Salawu Oduba as Auditor, Salawu Yakubu Oboboja as Deputy Secretary, Omede Samuel Eleojo as PWD Representative, Anthony Enejo as Labour and Civil Society Representative, and Hon. Silas Adeiza Oricha as Publicity Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Moses Peter called on party members to unite and work together towards building a formidable political structure capable of wresting power from the current administration in the state.
He said the party remains open to new members and assured that every member would enjoy equal opportunities without discrimination.
The chairman commended the leadership qualities of the national chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, and pledged the loyalty and cooperation of SDP members in Kogi State.
He also appreciated the national leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in the state executives, promising that they would not disappoint the party and its supporters.
