Sen. Karimi: Kabba‑Egbe‑Ilorin Road to Get Boost Under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Infrastructure Funding.
Senator Sunday Karimi, Representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has expressed optimism that the long‑standing challenges on the Kabba‑Egbe‑Ilorin road will soon be resolved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Funding.
Reacting to an interview by Minister of Works David Umahi, where the Minister confirmed the road’s reconstruction is being awarded in stages, Karimi noted that I am aware that, “Isanlu‑Oyi‑Ejiba section has been revised and approved by the Federal Executive Council”. “Osi‑Egbe review is ongoing. Ilorin‑Omupo stretch has been revised, with work nearing completion”.
He added that the contractor, CGC, is negotiating a contract price review because the 2014/2016 pricing is no longer viable.
Karimi highlighted that the project is now to enjoy direct funding from the NNPC window under the “Renewed Hope” initiative, which should alleviate the chronic funding bottleneck hampering road construction nationwide.
He thanked Constituents for their patience and enthusiasm, urged Mangal and Dangote Cement to undertake corporate social responsibility on the worst sections, noting that heavy cement haulage has accelerated the road’s deterioration.
