Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed profound shock and dismay over a tragic airstrike that mistakenly targeted two innocent communities, Gidan Bisa and Rumtuwa, in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The unfortunate incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, resulted in numerous casualties, leaving many dead and others injured.

In a heartfelt statement personally signed by him, Senator Tambuwal extended his deepest condolences to the grieving families who lost loved ones in the tragedy. He also expressed solidarity with the injured and pledged unwavering support to the people of Silame during this painful time.

“This tragedy has not only robbed families of their loved ones but also caused immense suffering in these communities,” Tambuwal stated. “The victims of this airstrike were innocent, hardworking citizens with no involvement in criminal activities. It is deeply upsetting that they should bear the brunt of such a tragic mistake.”

The former Governor of Sokoto State further commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto, describing the incident as a devastating loss. “During this painful time, my thoughts are with you as you cope with this heart-wrenching tragedy. May you find strength and comfort as you navigate these trying circumstances,” he said.

While acknowledging the need for military operations to combat the growing threats posed by groups like Lakurawa and armed bandits, Tambuwal emphasized the importance of ensuring such operations are conducted with precision and accountability. “The loss of civilian lives during operations intended to protect us is unacceptable and must be thoroughly investigated,” he declared.

He called on the relevant authorities to launch a comprehensive and impartial inquiry into the incident, urging them to ensure justice for the victims and their families. Senator Tambuwal also stressed the need for military and security stakeholders to prioritize the safety of civilians and implement robust measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“In this challenging time, let us come together as a nation to support the affected families and work towards restoring peace, stability, and security in our communities,” Tambuwal urged.

He concluded by praying for the departed souls to rest in peace and for the swift recovery of the injured, stating, “May the souls of the departed find eternal rest, and may the injured recover swiftly.”

The Senator’s statement serves as a rallying cry for collective action to address the tragic mistake, prevent future occurrences, and uphold the sanctity of human life amidst the fight against insecurity.
