KANO–In a moving display of solidarity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his people, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, embarked on a condolence tour across Kano State, paying respects to families who recently suffered painful losses. The visits, which took him to multiple communities within the state, were deeply emotional and reflective of the senator’s strong ties to his roots and the values of empathy, unity, and spiritual support.
The first stop was Kabo, his hometown, where he visited the residence of the late District Head of Kabo Local Government Area, Alhaji Idris Adamu Dankabo, who tragically lost his life in a car accident just a few days ago. The community was still in mourning as Senator Barau arrived, accompanied by aides and party members.
Describing the passing of Alhaji Dankabo as a monumental loss to the entire Kano State, Senator Barau said:
> “Alhaji Dankabo was not only a leader but a symbol of wisdom, humility, and dedicated service. His legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Though this loss is deeply painful, we must find solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life devoted to the worship of Allah and the service of humanity.”
He offered prayers for the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
From Kabo, the Deputy Senate President moved to the residence of the Chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Alhaji Yahuza Yankaba, who recently lost three relatives. Senator Barau conveyed heartfelt condolences, offering prayers and words of strength. He urged the grieving family to remain steadfast in faith, assuring them that their loss is shared by the wider community.
The next stop was Ungogo Local Government Area, where Senator Barau paid tribute to Alhaji Isyaku Nature, the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the LGA, who had also recently passed away. Describing him as a loyal and tireless party man, Barau noted that his contributions to the APC and to Kano politics would not be forgotten. He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and comfort for his family.
Continuing his tour, the senator visited the family of Alhaji Baba Ayiye, a former member of the Kano State House of Assembly, who represented Fagge State Constituency. Senator Barau recalled the late lawmaker’s dedication to public service and his advocacy for the welfare of his constituents. The loss, he noted, was not only personal but political — a void that would be hard to fill.
The final visit of the day was at Jakara, the home of his Special Assistant on Protocol, Alhaji Jibril Tijjani, who lost his elder brother, Alhaji Dan-Babba Tijjani Mai-Atamfa. There, Senator Barau joined family members in prayer, asking Allah to shower His infinite mercy on the departed and grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
> “May Almighty Allah forgive the shortcomings of all the deceased and grant them the highest level of paradise, Jannatul Firdaus,” he concluded.
These visits served as a reminder of the senator’s deep connection with his constituents — not just in times of political victory, but more importantly, in times of grief and sorrow. His presence brought comfort, his words brought hope, and his prayers echoed the shared faith that binds the people of Kano State together.
In a world often defined by power and politics, Senator Barau’s condolence tour stood out as a gesture of humility, humanity, and heartfelt solidarity — a reflection of true leadership grounded in empathy and service.
