Senator Barau I Jibrin Issues Admission Letters to 1,000 Undergraduate Scholarship Beneficiaries at FUDMA

In a landmark educational initiative, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I Jibrin has officially issued admission letters to 1,000 beneficiaries of his undergraduate scholarship program, enabling them to pursue diverse academic courses at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State. This milestone, announced last Thursday, underscores Senator Jibrin’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to higher education across Nigeria.
The scholarship scheme is a flagship project under the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), an organization dedicated to empowering Nigerian youths by providing educational opportunities and fostering human capital development. Through this initiative, Senator Jibrin aims to ensure that deserving students from all walks of life can attain quality education without the burden of financial constraints.
The event was graced by a wide array of distinguished guests and stakeholders. Senator Barau I Jibrin was ably represented by his esteemed colleague, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of Kano South and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream Petroleum. Senator Sumaila not only conveyed Senator Jibrin’s goodwill but also personally donated ₦20,000 to each beneficiary, further easing their financial burdens as they embark on their academic journeys.
In recognition of Senator Barau I Jibrin’s dedication to education and his instrumental role in establishing FUDMA Study Centres across various senatorial districts, the Kano South Students Association (KASOSA) and Kano Central Students Association (KACESA) presented him with an award of excellence. This accolade reflects the profound impact of his efforts on the educational landscape of the region.
The occasion also witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata; Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, representing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Professor Abdullahi Shehu Maaji, Managing Director of the North West Development Commission (NWDC); Professor Haruna Musa, Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano; former Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas; along with leading academicians, political party leaders, and community stakeholders.
In his remarks, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila urged the scholarship recipients to seize this golden opportunity by remaining dedicated to their studies and making the most of the resources and support provided. He reiterated Senator Barau I Jibrin’s pledge to continue investing in Nigeria’s youth, emphasizing that their success is inextricably linked to the nation’s progress.
