Senator Sunday Karimi: A Politician with a Difference

Senator Sunday Karimi, a Nigerian politician and engineer, has been making waves in the country’s political landscape with his unique approach to leadership.

Born on March 10, 1962, in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, North central Nigeria, Karimi’s journey into politics is a testament to his dedication and passion for serving others.

A Career Spanning Decades
Karimi’s foray into politics began when he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives, representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro constituency from 2011 to 2019. During his tenure, he sponsored several bills and motions, showcasing his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

In 2023, Karimi contested and won the senatorial seat for Kogi West Senatorial District, defeating the incumbent Senator Smart Adeyemi. As a senator, he has continued to champion the causes of his people, providing infrastructure and amenities that have improved their quality of life.

A Leader with a Heart:
One of Karimi’s most notable achievements is the construction and commissioning of a fully furnished and equipped military base in the outskirts of Egbe town, Yagba West local government area. This project has helped to address the rising insecurity in the region, providing a safe haven for residents.

In addition to this, Karimi has facilitated the construction of 75 solar-powered boreholes and the rehabilitation of 60 moribund water schemes across communities in Kogi West.

This project, valued at N1.24 billion, has provided clean water and improved the health and well-being of residents. He has disbursed over two hundred million for a scholarship scheme for students in tertiary institutions and cooperative Societies for women group, both groups get hundred million naira each to support their endeavors. Aside the recent supplied of 16 electric transformers to boost the electric supply to communities within the senatorial district. The rehabilitation of the Government Science Secondary School, Koton Karfe in Kogi Local Government Area worth 1.2billion naira, the ongoing construction of 1000 seaters, lecture hall at the Open University, Isanlu center, Yagba East Local Government Area and his donation of five million naira to the security base being constructed by Kabba-Bunu Local Government Chairman while he also ten and Eleven million Naira to Ijumu Anglican Diocese to support its nursing school project and the rehabilitation of fish market in Lokoja Local Government respectively.

A Different Kind of Politician:
Karimi’s approach to politics is refreshing and different. He is a leader who listens and responds to the needs of his people. His commitment to providing infrastructure and amenities has earned him the respect and admiration of his constituents.

As Chairman of the Committee on Senate Services, Karimi has continued to push for reforms and improvements in the Senate. His dedication to duty and his passion for serving others make him a standout politician in Nigeria.
